The Berlin Wall divided families, friends and nations for more than a
quarter of a century. It was a focal point for cold-war tension, that
could have easily ended in nuclear confrontation.
The photographs in this portion were taken in August of 1971, around the
10th anniversary of the Wall. The memorial was to honour the victims of
the wall.
